So true. When I was young (pre-30s, for the most part) I thought I had everything figured out and that my ways were perfect (so weird how that describes G d and HIS ways-- alone!).
For a long time now I have been realizing that the older I get and the more wisdom I inculcate, the more I realize that I actually don't know.
"...in a deteriorating, grief-filled, disaster-laden world" your words are encouraging and hopeful. I'm over here learning the deep dive and grateful for your work.
Thank you ! Once more you have put into words thoughts and emotions that I too have. I have learned in my journey that each of us has a story and that God will author our story if we allow Him to. At times I long to share my own journey with others …. not from any sense of pride , but rather, from personal amazement at what God has done for me and in me. I have learned that the deeper I go into His Word, the more settled my soul becomes. These are turbulent times that cause me to grieve and long for simpler days. But I have to stand down and remember the
mystery of God and trust that He is in control. As our Pastor said this morning, the answer is in the Word. “Love thy neighbor and love God with all your heart, and soul , and mind.
This is so helpful Sarah. I’ve learned you can’t put God in a box or a complete circle. Certainty can become idolatry. We can’t erase the mystery of God at work in ways we cannot see. He will be my guide walking closely by my side. At times that has to be enough.
